It’s African Fashion Week – Step on the Runway

Here are some of the fantastic designs from this years’ African Fashion Week, held at the Freemason’s Hall in London on 10th & 11th August. The shows and exhibits were full of drama, originality and energy.

Being the eighth edition, a strong sense of confidence was displayed from the designers who included Pearl of Africa (Angola), Michi Knitwear (USA) and Onyx by Valentina (Nigeria) on Friday.

On Saturday, designers included Lady Biba (Nigeria), Van Else (Netherlands), Mary Martin (UK) and Kitu Kali (Kenya, UK) to name but a very few.

Check out the creativity in the photos below.

Keep an eye out also for a feature on designers Kitu Kali who run a social enterprise helping artists from the poorest parts of Nairobi in Kenya. They sell environmentally friendly shoes whilst empowering the community.
